The Ultimate 28-Day Financial Fitness Routine: Day 5
Day 5 ~
Choose a budget tracking tool or app, and use it daily. It can be as simple as an excel spreadsheet, or as slick as one of the many easy-to-use budget apps that are available for download.
Here are some recommendations to get your started:
- YNAB – You Need A Budget can be used on all devices; it’s $5/month or $50/year and although paying for an app is not our favorite thing, this one is well worth it. We love their philosophy and the four budget rules they lay out: 1. Give every dollar a job, 2. Embrace Your True Expenses, 3. Roll With the Punches, and 4. Age Your Money.
- Level Money – this free app for iOS and Android gives users a snapshot of how much they can spend at any given time; it tracks your spendable money — what’s left over after you’ve paid your fixed expenses and savings account. It allow easy to creation and tracking of spend categories.
- Mvelopes – for use with iPhones, Androids, Windows and Mac systems, it’s free for basic service (which for most “budget virgins” is plenty to begin with). This app takes the classic envelope budgeting system and makes it digital.
