According to Sercc.com, the U.S. averages about 1,200 tornadoes each year and in the United States, these twisters have an average path length of about 5 miles and an average width of 160-170 yards. That means lots of potential home damage for those of us who live here.
In fact, NCDC.com states that in 2016 alone, there were early outbreaks of tornadoes and severe weather across many southern and eastern states including the following: AL, CT, FL, GA, LA, MA, MD, MS, NC, NJ, NY, PA, SC, TX, VA.
There were at least 50 confirmed tornadoes that touched down creating $1 billion of widespread damage.
